To aid in the conservation of small wild cat species though education and support for scientific observation

Big Wild Cats

These are the big guys that most people are familiar with from from documentaries, news and books. We have also included fact sheets on three highly endangered subspecies - Asiatic Cheetah, Gir Lion and Amur Leopard. The Tiger has not been broken down into subspecies status, as all members of this species are equally, critically, endangered.

As with the smaller wild cats, reproduction of these fact sheets is encouraged. The intention of writing them was to help spread the word on wild cats, and we urge you to continue the process.

We have translated the Neotropical (Central & South American) cat fact sheets into Spanish, and the Amur & Snow Leopard fact sheets into Russian. We are working on more translations for all our wild cats, and have added pages for subspecies of the some of the cats, such as the Asiatic cheetah and Amur Leopard.

Help us translate our fact sheets. It is important that we reach the people living in the cats' native countries, and that means many languages are needed. Please contact us if you can help with even one species.
